Look at how unclear those two entries are: “Realtek Semiconduct Corp. was right in his post).īut then there’s the bottom of page 12 and the top of page 13. When MSUDC talks about Win 7, before the last entry on page 12, it is the 6.XXXX series, pages ten and eleven (Mes.7777. Unless I missed something***, up until the very bottom of page 12, and then the top of page 13, Realtek driver 6.31225 is designated as only a Win10 or above driver, see also this page. For this reason, I can no longer trust what MS is telling me now pertaining to drivers for Win 7.Ģ) Go to MS Update Catalog (MSUDC) for the Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader. FP’s experience with Win 8.1 (phone), and OneDrive, certainly falls into this category as well. I know this is just one computer, so I write this with caution, but it could be very possible that MSWU, and updating via device manager, are telling machines with non Win 10 OS’s to install/update to Win10 drivers. The good news, if you can call it that, is that going back into device manager, and using the roll-back to the previous version option, for the USB card reader driver, restored functionality immediately without a need to reboot. It also gave me non-functioning USB ports, all of them (unable to read message). I did so, and, following installation, it gave me (automatically installed without asking if this is what I wanted) version number 6.31225, not an updated version of a 6.0.xxxx, as I had expected. The first is somewhat redundant of what I posted last night on the Realtek thread but I want to establish context within this new thread.ġ) I followed the suggestion of one of the members of the board to go into device manager and update the USB 2.0 Card Reader driver there. I am now posting parts of two on this board, in this thread, per Woody’s request. I have written a number of e-mails directly to Woody about the Realtek 2.0 Card Reader Driver matter. Woody has asked me to post the following and I am doing so despite my reservations, which I won’t go into, but they have nothing to do with the substance of that which follows.
